The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Shiraz University was established in 1969 and it is the second oldest veterinary faculty of the country after the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of University of Tehran. This faculty currently has 58 faculty members (20 professors, 18 associate professors, 20 assistant professors). The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine provides master's degree in Bacteriology, Biochemistry and Physiology. It offers programs such as Anatomy and Comparative Embryology, Comparative Histology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Physiology, Health and Diseases of Poultry, Health and Diseases of Aquatic Animals, Internal Diseases of Large Animals, Anesthesia and Special Care, Surgery, Reproductive Technology, Clinical Pathology, Obstetrics and Reproductive Diseases of Livestock, Pathology, Parasitology, Bacteriology, Biotechnology, Food Hygiene and Animal Feed Hygiene.

     Alumni of this faculty play an essential role health and wellbeing of this country. Some graduates become faculty members in other universities, or work in institutions.

     The number of units in the general doctoral degree is 217, in the master's degree is 28, in the specialized doctoral degree is 60, and in the specialized doctoral degree (Ph.D.) is 36 units.
